AM support Services Get it Right
AM Support Service has worked with Centre for Assessment to successfully implement ISO 9001 and Investors in People (IIP) throughout its business. The standards have improved the company’s internal systems and have been integral to its continued growth.
By introducing the ISO 9001 and IIP standards, the company has seen its procedures standardised and is confident for the future and the the visions they have set themselves. AM Support Services firmly believe that ISO 9001and IIP have helped their company be what it is today, a flourishing young and vibrant company to work for where the company have all of their staffs best interests in their sights with a great empathy to DO WHAT IS RIGHT. Adrian Cresswell, Director for AM Supports Services says, ‘IIP was our first accreditation, With Investors In People, what can I say that would be a possible negative about this accreditation, nothing, being a service based business that needs the people within its organisation to deliver constantly a high standard of service, Investors In People is a must for any company. It helped us focus on our people, through training and development, staff retention, appraisals, company handbooks, Health and Safety and ongoing support. I would recommend the accreditation to any company big or small. Achieving ISO 9001 was a real milestone for the company. Working towards ISO helped the company but down firm operating procedures, myself and Anthea both came from the service industry so we did not have great administration skills, ISO9001 really helped us gain those skills and in turn helped develop the company administrations systems, without the accreditation we may still be fumbling about not closely approaching a company annual T/O of in access 3.5 million pounds. I must stress though having the ISO accreditation not only helped in the above but also helped us gain the respect of potential clients, the accreditation indicates to clients that you are a company that is striving to better themselves and are a good company to do business with. Having the accreditations is a good grounding but as your business grows you must be constantly investing in new software and people to help you take the company to another level. Sue Mulvaney, their assessor for both their ISO 9001 and Investors in People commented, “The first assessment for A-M Support Services against the ISO 9001-2000 standard looked at a small modest organisation based in Lancaster, they were already recognised as an Investor in People. The two owners of the company wanted to provide a high quality service in that proximity and had no intention of any significant expansion. By the time of the second visit there had been significant growth and it was recognised that they would need to look at a larger office base. By July 2007, when the last joint review for IIP and ISO took place, the company was continuing to expand and was planning its second relocation to a purpose built and self owned site in Heysham. In July 2008 the review was held in the office premises at Heysham which is now well established. Throughout this time both Adrian and Anthea have managed to continue to give a quality service to all of their clients and now find that they are continuing to grow while not having to significantly market their services. The maintenance of quality, in this rapid time of growth, has been attributed to the frameworks of the two quality standards The owners of this remarkable organisation are never complacent and are always open to the further development of their quality systems which they see as an integral part of their business” Centre for Assessment Ltd is the established provider of assessment services. The company supports the development and delivery of a wide range of quality frameworks and organisational development strategies.
