Justice Week 2020 is taking place from 24-28 February in England and Wales, with the aim to improve access to justice. Championed by the Law Society, the Bar Council and the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx), the event endeavours to connect with young people and help them to understand the justice system and the rule of law across four themes of protecting freedom, fighting for rights, defending democracy and saving the planet.
This can be a challenge for practices that deal with clients who many have a negative or biased opinion of the legal system and can be particularly difficult to overcome when professionals are managing heavy caseloads and navigating complex internal structures.
At Centre for Assessment (CfA) we work with multiple law firms to help them achieve Lexcel – the Law Society’s accreditation – which showcases the firm’s commitment to sound practice management. This can help firms to be more efficient and productive, allowing legal professionals to spend more time with clients ensuring they understand the advice they are being given.
Harrison Drury and Co Ltd, who recently achieved Lexcel through Centre for Assessment said:
"Lexcel has helped us in providing a quality framework for delivering consistently high standards of service to our clients and allowing our staff to focus on the key areas of activity to achieve this without becoming too tied up in regulatory concerns.
"With the ever-increasing pressure on law firms to comply with legislation, having Lexcel is a must. It structures the way you deal with difficult matters on a day to day basis. Having systems and procedures in place and working to these standards has made a huge difference to our Company."
On Thursday, as part of Justice Week, the focus is on saving the planet. ISO 14001 can help firms demonstrate that they care about the environment to younger ECO concerned people by adopting the Environmental Management Standard, which helps them to reduce waste and protect our environment.
