Employee Spotlight: Charlotte Drew

What did you do before CfA?

I have a background in quality, compliance, information governance and risk management within the healthcare and digital health sector. Prior to joining Centre for Assessment, I worked as a Quality & Compliance Manager where I led and maintained integrated management systems across standards including ISO 27001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, alongside supporting work relating to ISO 13485 and regulatory compliance within healthcare technology.

My experience has included internal auditing, supplier assurance, risk management, governance, accreditation support and working closely with senior leadership teams to drive continual improvement and compliance.

What led you to work in the field?

I first became involved with standards and compliance in my first professional role working for the NHS as a Quality Management System Administrator within a hospital sterilisation department. That experience gave me an insight into the importance of quality, governance and continual improvement within healthcare, and I really enjoyed the problem solving and organisational side of the role. From there, my interest in compliance and standards naturally grew throughout my career.

How are you finding it at CfA, and what have you enjoyed most in your role so far?

I’m really enjoying my time at Centre for Assessment so far. Everyone has been very welcoming and supportive, and it’s been great getting exposure to the certification body side of auditing and accreditation. I’ve particularly enjoyed learning more about ISO 17021-1 and the wider certification process. I’m looking forward to continuing to build my knowledge, supporting the team and helping to further strengthen and improve processes as I settle into the role.

Looking back at your career so far, what accomplishment are you most proud of?

One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of is leading and developing integrated management systems across multiple standards within a complex healthcare environment. It was incredibly rewarding to help build strong governance, risk and compliance processes that genuinely supported the wider business and contributed towards improving the health and wellbeing of the general public through digital healthcare services.

I’m also proud of consistently challenging myself throughout my career, stepping into new areas of responsibility and succeeding in roles that have pushed me both professionally and personally.

What do you like to do for fun?

Outside of work, I love socialising with friends, spending time with my family including my two Maine Coon cats. I also enjoy horse riding, which I’ve done for a number of years, and I find it’s a great way to switch off, challenge myself and spend time outdoors.

If you were an ISO standard, which one would you be and why?

I’d probably say ISO 9001, I like to think I’m adaptable, focused on continual improvement and always trying to keep everything running smoothly and effectively! It’s also a standard that works across lots of different environments and brings people together towards a common goal, which I think reflects me quite well.
