Join our Impartiality Committee

We’re recruiting: Independent Experts for our Impartiality Committee

At Centre for Assessment, maintaining impartiality isn’t just a requirement - it’s fundamental to everything we do.

As a UKAS-accredited certification body (0120), we provide audits and certification across internationally recognised standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001, ISO 45001, EN 1090 and SSiP. Ensuring integrity and independence in these services is critical.

That’s why we are looking to expand our Impartiality Committee - and we’re seeking experienced professionals to join us.

About the role
Our Impartiality Committee plays a vital role in safeguarding the independence of our certification activities. Members provide oversight, challenge, and assurance by reviewing any risks (or perceived risks) to impartiality across our services.

The committee:

  • Meets approx. 3 meetings per year – alternate virtual and in Manchester
  • Operates independently, with the authority to escalate concerns where necessary
  • Provides meaningful scrutiny to support compliance with ISO and UKAS requirements

Who we’re looking for
We’re particularly interested in individuals who can bring:

  • Senior leadership experience (outside of Centre for Assessment)
  • Knowledge of ISO standards, certification, or regulated environments
  • Insight into customer service, governance, or risk management
  • Legal or compliance expertise relating to impartiality
  • A strong sense of integrity, independence, and professionalism

Just as important are the personal qualities:

  • Pragmatism and sound judgement
  • Strong communication skills
  • Respect for confidentiality and due process
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement

Training will be provided, and members receive travel expenses and time commitment covered at cost

Why get involved?
This is an opportunity to:

  • Contribute to the integrity of accredited certification in the UK
  • Apply your expertise in a governance-focused, advisory capacity
  • Be part of an organisation committed to doing the right thing and making a positive difference

If you’d like to play a role in upholding impartiality in a regulated certification environment, we’d love to hear from you. Please contact us for more information on how to join our impartiality committee.
