RKMS’ Quintuple Success: Five Standards, One Journey with CfA

Who are RKMS?

RKMS are an established training and consultancy provider specialising in governance risk and compliance. They also offer compliance software to the market assisting clients in maintaining compliance to a range of ISO standards. RKMS are an approved training provider to deliver accredited qualifications from first aid to CQI / IRCA Lead Auditor courses. The portfolio also includes apprenticeships via the DfE and offer vocational qualifications in Lean Management and Quality Practitioner.

RKMS have certification in 5 standards, including:

ISO 9001 Quality Management (held since 1994)

ISO 14001 Environmental Management (held since 2009)

ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management (held since 2009)

PAS 2060 Carbon Neutrality (held since 2022)

ISO 27001 Information Security Management (held since 2025)

As a company that deliver support to clients in achieving and maintaining these standards, RKMS saw each standard as a necessity. From experience, RKMS commented that most companies that provide similar support are not certified themselves, therefore they saw this as a way of distinguishing themselves from the competition, as well as it being essential for the contracts they hold.

We asked RKMS which part of the standards they found particularly pertinent to their business, here’s what they said:

Holding certification to all said standards demonstrates to our clients and prospective clients that we practice as we preach. RKMS are currently working with a large global OEM that manufacture PC’s and laptops about rolling out services to their supply chain - this is only possible as we hold certification to ISO 27001.

Moreover, we won a contract with ADIPS to provide expert audits for their registration scheme that oversees the safety of fairground and theme park rides. This involves auditing quality management systems and technical competence of 40 Inspection Bodies throughout the UK to the ADIPS scheme, ISO17020 and HSG175.

When asked how they found the certification process with Centre for Assessment, they commented:

The certification process was straight forward; we obtained a very competitive quote for all the standards and have experienced several auditors over the last 15 years who we found to be knowledgeable and approachable. We know from experience that audits offered by Centre for Assessment are thorough and cost effective.

Would they recommend the standards to other companies?

Yes, we would certainly recommend these standards to other organisations as the business benefits are enormous. We have a client that saved €80,000 on their annual insurance premium due to holding these standards. We have other clients that have won multimillion pound contracts; mainly down to the fact they held these standards, and their competitors didn’t!

What advice would you offer to other organisations looking to achieve the same accreditation(s)?

Go for it, then promote it once you have achieved certification. It’s never easy to measure what business you haven’t won and why but holding these certifications will certainly help you secure more business.
