I have 50 years’ experience within the Fabrication and Welding Industry working as a Pipe Fitter Welder with Michelin Tyre Company and then with ARAMCO, upon leaving ARAMCO I worked for AMF Euroweld firstly as a welder and then I moved into their QA department where I worked with BS 5500 standards (Pressure Directive) using NDT and DT methods of assuring weld quality.

Upon leaving AMF group I worked for Ulster University in a welding research role before being head hunted by Hughes as their Welding Engineer, during my first 6 months with the company I effectively reduced ALL welding rework from 40% to zero%, which then saw me taking an active role at Hughes parent company in Houston TX for a period of 9 months where I helped modify the companies welding activities.

I then joined the College of Technology in Sept 1988 which evolved into Belfast Met, I have been employed by the college for 32 years to date and I am retiring from the college at the end of this Academic year where I will be looking for a new challenge.
