Welcoming our newest member of the team - Leanne Kaut. Leanne is our new Certification Manager, her role is to develop, manage and maintain all CfA's UKAS accreditations and ensure all certification audits undertaken comply with accreditation standards.
Give a brief overview of your experience and what led you to work in this role
Before joining CfA, I was a Quality and Compliance Manager in Healthcare, Labotories and Medical Devices. I also have experience working as a Lead Auditor and Consultant on various ISO Standards.
Moreover, I have previously been a customer of the BSI; therefore, I know what a good certification body looks like, and what issues certification bodies face when it comes to customers. Therefore, I have come into this role to continue to improve the customer experience.
How are you finding it at CfA, and what have you enjoyed most in your role so far
I really feel that there is a clear business direction, and this is communicated down efficiently from the senior management team. CfA has a great ethos, and working for a company who gives to their employees makes you even more empowered to give back.
I really like how CfA takes findings in its audits openly, and these findings are used to make beneficial decisions to make future audits more effective and thus continue to improve the customer experience.
My favourite part of the role so far has been working as part of a team across different departments, I have already experienced CfA’s positive, welcoming and helpful environment. I really enjoy the social aspect too, especially attending social events with other members of the team and senior management make a conscious effort to organise these for staff.
Looking back at your career so far, what are you most proud of
In my career so far, I’m most proud of my involvement in the The Clinically Led workforce and Activity Redesign (CLEAR) Programme funded by Health Education England. Its aim is to upskill clinicians to perform and deliver data-driven, clinical redesign work to solve system wide workforce challenges within the NHS. I worked to expel jargon terms from the NHS, which was very rewarding and fulfilling and a great project to have been involved in.
What is a fun fact about yourself that most people wouldn’t know
I love playing Pokémon Go! When I was recovering from a broken back after a horse riding accident, the rehabilitation centre encouraged patients to play Pokémon Go to inspire them to move around – I enjoyed the game that much that I’ve continued playing it to this day.
Another fact that people may not know about me is that I used to live in Scotland and it was there where I did my own home brewing!
If you were an ISO standard, which one would you be and why
I would be ISO 5703, a standard that specifies methods for testing grape presses, as I used to love a glass of wine!
