Understanding EN 1090: A Legal Requirement for Selling Steel in the UK & EU Markets

BS EN 1090 is the standard for UKCA and CE Marking steel and aluminium structures. To place structural steel or aluminium products into the UK or European Market, you are legally required to hold this certification.

Centre for Assessment (CfA) have agreements in place with European notified bodies, enabling us to offer the EN 1090 certification. CfA will audit your factory-controlled processes, enabling you to market your products to UK and EU countries.

How much does EN 1090 cost?
CfA provide rigorous audits against the EN 1090 standard, and we ensure that all our audits are good value for money. The actual cost of an EN 1090 audit will depend on various factors, including the number of people involved in the fabrication process and the execution class of your products. Our sales team will be pleased to provide you with a no obligation proposal for your company once you make an application!

Can I transfer my certification to Centre for Assessment?

If you are already certified in EN1090 with another certification body, it is easy to transfer to another certification body, for example us.

There are many reasons why you might choose to work with us, including the benefits of a more flexible certification, or a more affordable fee. We have plenty of experience working with transfer clients, ensuring that their necessary audits take place so that there is no gap in their certification. All you simply need to do is contact us and let us know that you are looking to transfer your certification to us.

Finally, what do our clients say about EN 1090?

“EN 1090 gives us credibility as a fabricator and it has improved our processes, especially in the area of welding. We plan and undertake fabrication with quality customer satisfaction at the forefront of all we do. Completely satisfied that it was the correct path to follow.” Radio Tower Engineering

“The standard itself ensures that we maintain a high level of quality control and also provides a means of allowing us to constantly review, and where appropriate, to further improve our systems and processes. The annual audits afford the opportunity for an independent assessor to review these systems and procedures and to suggest any possible changes that might improve our performance against the standard.” Andrew Hicks Engineering Ltd
