The Global Wind Organisation is at the heart of one of the fastest growing sectors in the world: renewable energy. As the drive for sustainable power continues, so does the global transition away from fossil fuels. Due to this rapid societal change, the urgent need for robust safety and training standards – and that’s where the GWO certification comes in.
The Global Wind Organisation (GWO) is a not-for-profit body founded by leading wind turbine manufacturers and operators to create a standardised framework for training and safety in the wind power sector. The GWO certification ensures that anyone working on a wind farm have the skills and knowledge to operate it safely and efficiently. Training providers of GWO must be audited by certification bodies, like Centre for Assessment, to ensure that they meet the criteria that has been set by the GWO.
1. Safety
The wind sector can come with its dangers, such as working at height, offshore operations, and challenging environments. The GWO certification ensures that workers are properly trained, thus reducing the risk of injury and or accidents.
2. Global Recognition
The GWO certification is recognised internationally, opening career opportunities for technicians and enabling employers to be confident when they hire, knowing that the training is consistent.
3. Sustainability and Growth
Wind energy is a critical factor in reaching net zero targets. As governments invest in wind projects, the demand in certified training will continue to rise.
At Centre for Assessment, we’re proud to be one of the very few organisations in the UK that deliver the GWO certification audits. As the demand for sustainability and wind energy grows, the need for training providers and assessors grows with it.
